VENUE: IRAQ/ BOSNIA (tbc)

INDICATIVE DATES: EARLY MAY/ 26-30 OCTOBER/ 30 NOVEMBER - 4 DECEMBER

FORMAT: HYBRID ( in person and online)

FEE: tbc

This course explores the intersection between the protection of cultural heritage and the rights and well-being of children in armed conflict. Cultural heritage embodies collective memory, identity, and dignity, while children represent the future of conflict-affected societies. The destruction of heritage sites not only erodes historical continuity but also deepens trauma for younger generations.

The programme combines legal, cultural, and peacebuilding perspectives to examine international frameworks for protecting cultural heritage and supporting children in conflict and post-conflict contexts. Morning sessions focus on theoretical and legal foundations, while afternoon activities include guided visits to cultural heritage sites and applied discussions.

The course is designed for participants interested in cultural heritage protection, child protection, transitional justice, and peacebuilding, offering a unique experiential learning dimension grounded in the realities of conflict-affected environments.
